Elise
Her Story
Elise whilst living at the Lucas Project overcame many hurdles after the devastating loss of both her parents who died within 18 months of each…
The night was electric. Over 300 people there enjoyed a night of fundraising, food, laughter with stand-up comedy from the CEO Maura Jackson, amazing entertainment from Preston based vocalist Dani Wallace who supported the headline act, Heather Small; the voice of M People. She belted out all her classics including Moving on Up and One Night in Heaven.
Heather Small who did not disappoint did this event as a gift to the charity. Compere Michael Thompson kept the night going and one lucky raffle winner took home a wheelbarrow full of booze; Lisa Edge from GB Share. Sophie Willan double BAFTA winning actor, writer and comedian from Bolton joined us for this special night too and danced the night away with guests.
She is the charity patron and an ex resident at Backup. The night overall raised £10,000 and CEO Maura Jackson told us, “the whole night has been a resounding success, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, our guests have been amazing and so generous.
Heather Small gave her time for the weekend to help us and we loved every minute of her set. We absolutely had the answer when she asked us ‘what have you done today to make you feel proud?’ The money we raised tonight will save lives in Bolton, young people who are homeless will benefit from every penny raised. ”
BACKUP provide multiple services across Bolton to young people aged 16-25 years who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness. Read here about all the supported accommodation which includes emergency housing, temporary accommodation, short and medium stay supported housing. Also the non accommodation based support work that focusses on mental health, employment support and much more.
Young people can live in more than one Backup service as they make progress and develop more independence prior to moving on completely. The different services are designed to meet various levels and ranges of needs.
